The Laceola Board of Directors election had an excellent turnout resulting in a new slate of officers. Our new board consists of Randy Freel, President; Fred Mueller, VP; Greg Skinner, VP; Dennis Wieckert, Treasurer and Meryl Cook, Secretary. We would like to thank the Laceola membership and all candidates for their participation in our annual meeting and election of board members.
The Board has already set an aggressive agenda for this year and years to follow. On top of the ongoing duties to maintain our community, the board has set some priorities to ensure that Lake Laceola maintains its status as a North Georgia Premier Community.
Dam – Our Dam requires quarterly inspections that are mandated by the State. These inspections have revealed some areas that require some maintenance. No need to panic, our dam is safe. We are working with the State and the dam engineers to finalize our maintenance plans, schedule and costs.
Roads – Our roads are on a continuing repair schedule. We have allocated $50-$60K per year for some serious road repair. This usually takes place late spring. We are researching options to help minimize wear and tear caused by heavy truck traffic.
Erosion – Erosion has become a major issue due to deteriorating roadsides, new builds and lot clearing. It’s impacting the water quality of our lake with a tremendous amount of silt being deposited in it. New build standards to control runoff are being reviewed along with a long range roadside erosion plan.
CC&R’s and ARB – To remain a Premier Community our community founders established a set of rules for our community. If you are unfamiliar with the CC&R’s and Architectural Review Board requirements, please retrieve them from the Laceola website and get an understanding of what is allowed and what isn’t. Violations do result in fines and also impact our community.
Please continue to participate in making our community a great place by offering to volunteer. Our various committees always need help, and special opportunities come up periodically such as assisting at our upcoming community work day. Remember, all committee and board positions are staffed solely by unpaid volunteers. Their only purpose is to maintain and improve our community. Our Clubhouse Committee and Grounds and Facilities Committee need volunteers now, please let us know if you can help.
